Why does the BMW Motorrad Connected app require authorization to be able to access the location of my smartphone at any time?

The BMW Motorrad Connected app requires the option of being able to determine the location of the smartphone at any time (setting “ALWAYS”). This is particularly necessary in order to be able to operate the app via the TFT display and the multimedia controller even if users carry their smartphone with them, for example, in their jacket pocket.

 

Furthermore, functions such as navigation, Speed Limit Info and route recording can only be provided reliably this way.
Unfortunately, the safety concept of the operating system does not allow any other solution at this time.


A location is determined exclusively for the provision of the functions that are provided to the user by the BMW Motorrad Connected app.
