Do I need a navigation preparation if I want to use the ConnectedRide Navigator?

Yes, to be able to use the full range of functions of the ConnectedRide Navigator, you need a navigation preparation on your motorcycle. Without a navigation holder, you must ensure that the Navigator is adequately supplied with power by other means, e.g. using a 12V accessory power socket or power bank.

The Navigator works independently. Also on motorcycles from other brands, the device offers full touch functionality as well as audio function / voice output (via the communication system in the helmet). Only the (multimedia) operation via the BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller on the handlebars is missing when using the Navigator on motorcycles from other brands. Similarly, vehicle data under "Motorcycle" cannot be read out by the Navigator if it is not paired with a Connectivity-enabled motorcycle from BMW Motorrad.

Please note that there are different types of navigation preparations.
The ConnectedRide Navigator cannot be used on the R 1200 RT, R 1250 RT, K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL, K 1600 Bagger and K 1600 Grand America models.
