If you have a day of nice Road riding planned maybe with a group of friends or perhaps with a passenger, riding in Road mode may be a good choice for you. When you change the Road mode, up to four different characteristics of the bike can be affected.
- Throttle response in Road mode is set for optimal acceleration/ the throttle bodies open more quickly than in say rain mode but are not quite as snappy as the more direct setting of dynamic. This helps you by providing a nice smooth acceleration.
- Traction control in this mode is also set for optimal. This is designed for good dry riding conditions but is ready to activate when you encounter something less so. For example, should you encounter a patch of gravel in your riding lane, traction control might kick in to help control your rear wheel spin in a loose area.
- The suspension gives you fully automatic damping with a bias toward a softer more shock absorbing ride as you encounter a bumpier patch of road. Damping softens to give you a more comfortable less jarring ride experience.
- Braking in Road mode utilizes the setup for on-road use, and with ABS Pro it adjusts based on your lean angle to help bring you to a safe stop.
It's good to remember that no technology is a substitute for safe riding techniques. Keep in mind that what happens as you change modes can vary based on the year and model of your bike so be sure to check your Rider's Manual.
